A commonly used insulation material which is favored by many for its flexibility and strength is closed cell foam which is made up of internal pores or cells that are situated closely together but are not connected. This is a highly adaptable material which could be used in almost everything from crafts to construction. There are six basic types of closed cell foam which includes polyethylene, Styrofoam™, Volara®, Minicel®, neoprene, and gymnastic rubber. All these kinds of closed cell foams are known for their high structural integrity, high compressive strength, and low moisture absorption. Also, there are much more attributes to this type of foams such as they are lightweight, flexible, and firm and resists most solvents and chemicals as well as fungi and mold that makes this more acceptable among builders. It is highly sturdy and so that it could survive a large amount of pressure without major alteration. Also it is stronger than open cell foam. Because of all these characteristics and specialties when builders seek for building consultancy Sydney building inspection experts mostly suggest for this type of insulation. But this type of insulation is much more expensive when compared with others because it requires more material. Based on the type the closed cell foam is used in various ways.

Polyethylene foam which is strong and resilient, Polystyrene which is a lightweight foam that is almost completely resistant to moisture, water vapor and mold, Volara which is thin and has a smooth consistency, Minicel that is a thick closed cell foam with a smooth feeling and Neoprene which is a flexible and durable sponge rubber are various closed cell foams that are used in different occasions for insulation.
